Not Allowed To Foster Because of Spanking

Gregory and Melanie Magazu have been told that they may not have foster children because they spank their own children. I think that it is a good thing. Foster children have enough trauma, without being aware of children in the home being hit. This applears to be a test case, so I will be watching it.

About Hermana Linda
Hermana means sister in Spanish and Linda is my name. I was born in late 1960 to a mother who had traveled around the world and had been impressed at the baby wearing she saw in Africa and Japan. While in Japan she purchased the baby carrier in which she is wearing me in my avatar. By the grace of God, I trusted Jesus as my personal savior in 1983. He gave me a husband in 1987 and 2 sons in the early 1990's. All glory to God.

I think that this is a good thing also. Many foster kids are the victims of abuse; that is how they end up in the foster system. Seeing (and/or experiencing) more violence sends out the message that hitting is all right. The result may well be that it turns them to hit others….especially smaller, more helpless children. This is the last thing they need to live with after all they have all ready been through.

It’s frightening enough to be a foster kid without wondering if you’re going to be dropped right back into an abusive home. It’s just sick that this couple is fighting so hard for some perceived right to strike other people’s children.
