The homeschooling movement is taking notice of the Pearls. Secular Homeschooling is a rather large magazine and they have written an exposé of the Pearls and their teachings. She looks at all aspects of the Pearls and gives some advice on how to respond when offered the book at a homeschool gathering.

Hermana, thank you so much. Your site was such a help to me in my research, and your words of praise mean a great deal to me. I’m so glad that you think my advice may be of help to others. I hope, *hope* that it may be so! Thank you for the work you do.

I am thrilled that my site was involved in any way with your research. I am so glad to help. I shared your article with my secular homeschool group and one member told me that someone had given her that book 10 years ago at her baby shower. She had been bringing it out for laughs at dinner parties for 10 years, never dreaming that people had actually followed its advice. She has now thrown the book away in disgust and horror.

Linda, this is an excellent article. Thank you for linking to it.
It does such a good job of showing the hideousness of the Pearls’ attitude toward children, and does so without attacking Christians. (Indeed, the author points out that many of us are strong opponents of their teachings).

    Thank you again!

You’re welcome. I don’t like to link to secular sites for the very reason you mentioned. They generally are very harsh on Christians. Also, their arguments are not usually useful, as they wouldn’t convince a Christian and I can’t imagine a non-Christian needing any convincing. But this article is different. It is very complete and fair. It prepares homeschoolers for that moment when someone offers them that book. It is great for homeschoolers to share.
