Petition to Auckland Libraries

Eileen Joy has started a petition at Change.org asking the Auckland Public Library system to remove the newly aquired book, To Train Up A Child from their system.  The library claims that to remove it would be censorship, even though the book advocates for corporal punishment which is illegal in New Zealand.

Fellow Kiwi here. I do not worry about these books being in Auckland Libraries. This country is far too advanced for anyone to take it seriously. There is only one copy which has been borrowed less than a dozen times, and no other city is even considering stocking it. The Herald has a story on this today, so by Wednesday that book will be out of our libraries. Kiwis won’t rand for such irrational, barbaric trash.

Corporal punishment is illegal and greatly frowned upon in this country. Hope they keep their backwards ways in the US
